Whole-Home Air Purification and Filtration Systems
Air filtration is more important in your home than ever. Builders are constructing modern homes tighter and with better insulation resulting in less natural ventilation. As a result, our homes may retain excessive pollen, dust, pet dander, and other indoor air pollutants compared to the older homes. While these new homes helps us save energy and reduces our electric bills, it can actually be detrimental to your health. Thankfully, numerous indoor air quality products are available that can help keep your air clean and your family healthy. One of the best IAQ products for any home, is a whole home, high-efficiency air filtration system.
Often referred to as whole-home air cleaners or whole-home air purifiers, these systems offer significantly better air filtration than a standard 1″ Filter, sometimes as high as MERV 15. Not only do these systems provide better filtration due to a higher MERV Filter, but also due to an electrostatic capability as well. Some systems are able to charge incoming air, forcing tiny particles that bypass their pre-filter to then adhere to collection cells. This allows these systems to catch pollutants as small as .3 microns in size. This can inactivate certain viruses and bacteria, making the air in your home even cleaner.
These features help Whole Home Air Filtration Systems provide cleaner air in your home, cleaner HVAC equipment, and better system efficiency. If your indoor air quality is important to you, one of these systems should be on your radar. Give us a call to schedule your free IAQ consultation today. One of our project managers will walk you through all of the best air filtration options for your home and advise you on the best way to move forward.

Benefits of Whole-Home Air Purification and Filtration Systems
Standard 1″ Filters found at system, or within filter-back return grilles in your home do an okay job at catching dust before it infiltrates your air handler or furnace. They leave much to be desired in terms of the quality of actual air filtration. They also have a much shorter filter change interval, meaning you need to replace them more frequently.
In contrast, whole-home, high-efficiency air filtration systems like the Trane Clean Effects or the Carrier Infinity Air Purifier provide air filtration up to 100x better than a standard 1″ filter and many can be serviced every 3-6 months. Here’s a list of some of the best benefits of a whole home air filtration system.
- Air Filtration Up to 100x Better than that of a standard 1″ Filter
- Longer Filter Maintenance Intervals
- Improvement of your home’s indoor air quality
- Reduction in dust, pet dander, dirt, pollen, etc…
- Helps reduce allergens and asthma causing irritants from the air in your home
- Keeps your equipment like your coil and blower wheel cleaner, resulting in higher system efficiency and longer system lifespan
- Keeps HVAC and ductwork cleaner
Whole-Home Air Filtration Systems We Offer:
Whole Home Air Filtration systems come in a couple different types. They are available as all-in-one units that offer air purification and filtration and are a part of your existing HVAC system, or they can be standalone units that can work independently of your HVAC system. No matter which type of air filtration system you’re interested in, we’ve got you covered. Here are the different types of air filtration systems we offer.
All-in-One Air Purifiers/Air Filtration Systems Installed As Part of Your HVAC System
Our recommended option for most of our customers is investing in a whole-home air purification device that offers incredibly effective filtration and air cleaning in a single unit. These are easy to install when replacing your ac or heating system. They’re often found underneath or beside your furnace or air handler. They can also be installed inside the return plenum. Here are some of our air favorite air purifiers and air filtration systems we frequently install.
Carrier Infinity Air Purifier
Carrier’s Infinity Air Purifier offers both air purification and filtration. This system uses “Captures and Kills” technology, effectively inactivating up to 99% of captured viruses and germs when properly installed. As air passes through the Infinity Air Purifier, it travels through what Carrier describes as a “Cloud” of electrically charged ions. These ions attach themselves to particles like dust, pollen, viruses, and germs in a process called ionization. After this process, the particles are drawn towards an oppositely charged, pleated MERV 15 filter and captured. They remain trapped here and are exposed to an intense electrical field where up to 99% of viruses and bacteria are inactivated. The Infinity Air Purifier is a MUST-HAVE with any new Carrier system.
Honeywell F300 Electronic Air Purifier and Filtration System
Honeywell is a well-known manufacturer of thermostats, but they also make a variety of high-quality IAQ products. Pictured here is the Honeywell F300 Electronic Air Purifier and Filtration System. Featuring a washable pre-filter, the F300 offers high-quality air filtration, inexpensive maintenance, and uses ionization to charge and trap extremely small particles, similar to the ones listed above.
Media Filtration Systems
If you’ve already invested in a standalone air purifier like the RGF Reme Halo LED Air Purifier, or if you are just looking for better filtration, investing in a Media Filtration System may be the best option for your home. These systems are a lesser investment than the all-in-one air purification/filtration systems listed above, but still offer much better filtration than a standard 1″ Filter. These also offer longer maintenance intervals, typically only needing to be changed every 3-6 months. They also provide filtration up to 20x better than a standard 1″ Filter, resulting in a reduction of pet dander, dust, and other particles from the air in your home.
Here are some of our favorite media filtration systems:
Trane QuikBox Air Filtration System
Trane’s QuikBox Media Air Filtration System is an excellent air filtration upgrade over standard 1″ filters. Available in MERV 11 and MERV 13, these filtration devices provide up to 20x better filtration than standard filters and last up to 6 months. These systems are an excellent upgrade to install when installing a new Trane Heat Pump Split System or Gas/AC Split system.
Carrier Media Air Filtration System
Carrier’s Mechanical Media Filtration System provides air filtration up to MERV 13. These systems trap significantly greater amounts of dust, dirt, pollen, pet dander than a standard 1″ Filter. These systems are an excellent upgrade to any Carrier system. They are installable on any furnace or air handler and can even be placed in the return plenum.
Top Tech Media Air Filters
Top Tech Media Filters are an affordable, easy-to-install media filtration system that can be used with any system. With MERV ratings of up to 15, these systems provide stellar air filtration. The filters last up to six months and are inexpensive compared to some of other replacement filters. The housing itself is also very robust, guaranteeing a long life. We see some other products not lasting as long because the housings themselves are made cheaply.
Honeywell F100/F200 Air Filtration System
Honeywell’s F100 and F200 Media Air filtration systems provide up to MERV 13 levels of filtration and extended filter lives. These are an excellent upgrade to any AC system and provide effective and affordable air filtration that removes greater amounts of Dust, Pollen, Dirt, Pet Dander, and other small particles from the air. These filters are also some of the easiest to acquire replacements for.
AprilAire Media Filter
Another big name in Indoor Air Quality is AprilAire. The AprilAire Air Filtration system comes with their Pure Fit Promise, the guarantee that these filters will fit flawless into the housing and deliver purer, healthier air. These are some of the most popular media filters we see in homes around Ocala and The Villages.
Standalone High-Efficiency Air Filtration Systems
Standalone air filtration systems provide HEPA air filtration that mimics air filtration systems found in hospitals. These systems often tie directly into your home’s HVAC system and oftentimes one standalone unit is enough for your entire home.

Whole-Home Air Purification and Filtration System FAQs
How Often Should I Change My HVAC system’s Filter?
Standard 1″ Filters when installed at your AC and heating system should be changed on an average every 30 days. Different home and homeowner situations will call for different filter change intervals. Through-the-wall return grilles near the floor will get dirty much quicker, especially with pets, and may require more frequent changing. Media Filters and other Air Purification systems often have filter change intervals of 3-6 months. You don’t want to go much past that as excessive buildup on your filter may cause your system to work harder.
What is the best whole-home air purification and filtration system?
Both Trane’s Clean Effects Air Purifier and Carrier’s Infinity Air Purifier provide outstanding air filtration and air cleaning. Both systems provide best-in-class air filtration and significantly reduce the presence of dust, dirt, pollen, pet dander and other substances from the air. They also both have been third-party tested and shown to inactivate up to 99% of Bacteria and Viruses that pass through these systems.
How much does a whole-home air filtration system cost?
Whole Home Air Filtration systems can vary significantly in price. Most systems range in price from $300-$2000. Fancy, standalone air filtration systems can cost thousands of dollars and may require ductwork modification and electrical upgrades. The best time to get an air filtration installed is when you replace or install your HVAC system as it can usually get easily integrated into the installation and you’ll save on installation costs.
